Abstract

A simple, accurate empirical predictor of the stopping power was developed for ions with energies in the range 0.1-1.0 MeV/u. The predictor was based on Bohr's classical approach. It was expected to allow the prediction of stopping powers for projectile-target combinations and direct future stopping power measurements. The reliability of this predictor was comparable to that of other much more complex programs and compilations designed to predict heavy ion stopping powers.
