Abstract

The agenda of this June's SBSTA-32 seemed pretty standard for the annual gathering in Bonn. But things are not always as they seem. Under an agenda item on Scientific, Technical and Socio-Economic Aspects of Mitigation, the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) proposed the idea of the UNFCCC Secretariat preparing a technical paper on the costs of achieving the objective of limiting a global average temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius ("C) and the costs of not achieving this objective
