    Abstract

The effects of annealing on the luminescence of silicon nanocrystals in silica were discussed. It was observed that the silicon nanocrystals were synthesized in fused silica by ion implantation and thermal annealing. It was found that the annealing environment also effect the shape and intensity of luminescence emission spectra. The results show that the smaller nanocrystal could be produced using photoluminescence (PL) and Raman spectroscopy.
