    Abstract

    Mutual security aims through membership of multilateral grouping are a feature of the early history of Australia-Thailand post-war security ties. ò Alliances such as SEATO combined the stated purpose of containing communism with aspiration for mutual social and economic cooperation to ensure the development of security and stability within Southeast Asia.
