Abstract
Australian epidemiology would benefit considerably by promoting collaboration with research statisticians because this encourages the development of new methods of analysis and new types of study. In addition, joint work by individuals with expertise in different disciplines is usually higher in quality than that produced by researchers working individually. (non-author abstract)
