    Abstract

In this chapter, I attend Halberstams notion that the traces or scars of old Monsters live on in contemporary examples and also move into the future, by analysing Hairies in the Australian tw0season series Cleverman (Griffen, 2016-2017) and Pangkarlangu in central Australia. I read both along the lines of the Indigenous Uncanny as proposed by Faye Ginsburg (2018), proposing that Hairies are not just monsters in the most general sense of the term but rather that they arefor First Nations peoplerelatable others.
