    Abstract

In his preface to the 1959 edition of The Logic of Scientific Discovery Karl Popper states “I, however, believe that there is at least one philosophical problem in which all thinking men are interested. It is the problem of cosmology: the problem of understanding the world-including ourselves, and our knowledge, as part of the world” In this Festschrift in honor of Karl Popper it is appropriate that I should here express my own thoughts on this philosophical problem, particularly since in doing so I will be able to show how greatly I am indebted to him. No attempt will be made here to correlate this simple account with the elaborate systems of epistemology developed by so many philosophers.
