Abstract
We present intensity, polarization and spectropolarimetric data on the newly discovered AM Herculis system REJ1938-461 during a low state of activity. REJ1938-461 was found by the ROSAT all-sky survey of extreme-ultraviolet sources. Its period of 2.33 h places it in the middle of the usual 2-3 h period gap for cataclysmic variables. The spectrum of REJ1938-461 is strongly modulated in frequency, showing the presence of two dominant cyclotron humps indicative of a magnetic field of 56 MG at one of the poles on the white dwarf surface.
