Abstract
As Russian military incursions into Western airspace fill the news, is a new Cold War inevitable? The answer is no, but that's not necessarily a good thing, writes Mathew Davies. There is a tendency among some to look back on the Cold War with nostalgia. Even as we remember the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, and as Gorbachev warns about the perils of new freeze in East-West relations, so we also look at our current world and all that is going wrong in it and wonder whether those long decades were all that bad.
