Abstract
A system for time-resolved spectroscopic analysis of pulsed nanosecond discharge emission in various gases is described and preliminary results using argon test gas are presented. Time-resolved emission intensity measurements of argon discharges show a rapid drop of emission line intensity in time and a variation in the rate of decay between the emission lines. Methods of improving the system with laser diode absorption spectroscopy, and comparison with computed emission lines are discussed.
