abstract = "The Yiddish Policemen{\textquoteright}s Union (2007) partakes in two literary genres: harboiled fiction and uchronia. In the following article, I offer a series of observations on how Michael Chabon updates both genres in his last novel. Through a close reading, I compare literary uchronia with its historiographical counterpart —alternative history. Finally, I examine Chabon{\textquoteright}s historical criticism of one of the most relevants movements of late modernity: Cultural Zionism. My reading is informed by Daniel Fondan{\`e}che{\textquoteright}s Paralitt{\'e}ratures, Niall Ferguson{\textquoteright}s Virtual History and Pierre Nora{\textquoteright}s Les lieux de m{\'e}moire.",
