Abstract

Background and Aim In the Metro North Hospital and Health Service region, the surveillance and management of outbreaks of acute respiratory infections in residential aged care facilities has traditionally been resource intensive and induced a large workload upon public health unit staff. This study involved a qualitative design to investigate the factors affecting outbreak management in aged care facilities and to incorporate the preferences and needs of end- users in a revised system.
