Abstract
Introduction: The DxH800 (Beckman Coulter, California) produces an uncorrected White Cell Count (WCC) and a corrected WCC on all samples. The corrected and uncorrected WCC is obtained in the white cell bath using the Coulter Principal based on impedance technology. The White Cell Differential Optical Count (WDOP) is estimated based on VCS (volume, conductivity and light scatter) parameters in the flow cell. In the majority of cases, the corrected is able to be reported. However some samples have interfering substances or other cellular material causing the WCC count to be "R" flagged and cannot be reported. This study aimed to validate the WDOP when the WCC is "R" flagged.
