    Abstract

Ua Huka Island, located in the northern Marquesas (French Polynesia), has been serving as a test-island for archaeologists to investigate long-term historical processes since the early 1990s. Through a combination of extensive excavations, surveys, and ethnoarchaeological approaches, the Ua Huka research project shed light on the ancient life of the Enata people. This monograph presents the results of settlement pattern analyses conducted in several valleys. The authors eventually offer a reconstruction of the global history of this Marquesan traditional society
