Abstract
Rust’s ownership-based type system ensures safety but often rejects intuitive and safe code, leading to workarounds. View types are a promising language extension aiming to increase flexibility and expressiveness in function calls. We outline the motivation, challenges, and research directions for integrating view types into Rust.
