Wayfinding: empowering students as researchers

Higher educational institutions are increasingly adopting the ‘Students as Partners’(SaP) model for teaching and learning. However, there is little evidence of the application of the SaP model in the context of research training and research collaborations–despite the potential synergies the model provides. This paper therefore explores our SaP research training program-Wayfinding: Empowering Students as Researchers-which sees researchers and university staff partnering with students as researchers to assess and address the potential of student partnership in research. This paper addresses the gap in our knowledge on the SaP model for research training, as well as exploring key learnings and insights emerging so far.
