Abstract
The first-ever display of 33 paintings made on roofing slates by Sidney Nolan, 1941-42. Exhibition also included related paintings, drawings, photographs and documents. Supported by extensive archival research, the exhibition established new interpretations of art works made by Nolan at a pivotal moment in his personal life and creative development. Using digital imaging and CNC technologies, the exhibition developed an innovative solution to the technical problem of display double-sided paintings, allowing the first ever full display of the series.
