Conference51st Annual Conference on South Asia
Abbreviated titleACSA 2023
Country/TerritoryUnited States
CityMadison
Period18/10/2321/10/23
OtherThe conference theme this year is “Structure and Spontaneity.” Whether in the arts, politics, or history, we are often surprised and impressed by spontaneous creative acts. However, such acts of creativity would not be possible or even intelligible without overarching structures. Global capitalism is perhaps one of the most prominent of such structures, which simultaneously make possible and undermine various forms of spontaneous action.
We are delighted to host more than 900 registered participants, 18 symposia, 140 panels, 25 roundtables, and several special events during this year’s conference, October 18-21.
