Abstract
Women were affected in many different ways by the invasion of Gaza. One significant image was women as victims of the violence. Of the Palestinian deaths, about a tenth were women, while a quarter were children. Although many more men than women were killed in Gaza, the images of women were particularly shocking because women are generally assumed to be non-combatants.
